PH Corporate Realty Programs today unveiled the long awaited new office space guidelines for the US Field. Appropriately named the "Office of the Future", the exciting new standards took over seven years to develop by a team of workgroup dynamics researchers, office  psychologists, ergonomic engineers and facility accountants. Additionally, the new designs took into account technology advances like wireless networking and telecommuting.

When is the "Office of the Future" Coming to My Local Office?  As soon as final construction contracts are released, and approval is provided to our insurance carriers from the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons on the long term effects of crouching.

What about office concierge services? A new concept in "Office of the Future" is "concierge self service". It works exactly like the current system, except that you complete the task instead of the concierge.

I've heard that all office amenities are going to be eliminated in "Office of the Future"  This is not true. For example, we plan to continue providing free air in every office. Other amenities, including water, toilet paper, phones, high speed internet connections and office supplies are under review.

Privacy Cones

Private offices and conference rooms hinder intra-group communications and decrease building flexibility. However, there are occasionally times when a manager needs to have a private, frank or embarrassing discussion with a subordinate. In these cases, each Office of the Future will provide a two person translucent privacy cone.

FlexCubes

FlexCubes provide mobile professionals with a place to park their PC, make cellular phone calls to customers and hold impromptu discussions with sales support or consulting employees. Taking advantage of technology advances, FlexCubes fully support battery powered PC's and wireless 802.3 local area networks. A generous supply of comfortable chairs is provided to allow for team meetings.

Groupware Enablement Module
We may make PCs, but it doesn't mean we have enough to go around for everyone! It makes far more sense to provide a structured framework for sharing assets, thus building teamwork and a cooperative spirit. The Groupware Enablement Module allows up to four employees to share one PC. Behaviorists say it fosters group "games", like "I'll drive the mouse" that build team spirit..
 

Faster Admin Systems

Improved application reliability and speedier networks make purchasing, time reporting and expense reimbursement much less time consuming in the "Office of the Future".
 

Smarter Site Selection

Another strategy in the "Office of the Future" plan is to make smarter decisions when selecting sites. For example the recent move of PH's Roseville Office several miles east into the Sierra Nevada foothills significantly reduced our costs without seriously impacting commute times.
