Groom Lake, Nevada. When Sam Fulton, Senior Sales Rep for Kumquat's Government Systems Sector gets a voicemail message to "phone home", he never knows what to expect. That's because one of his customers is the famous government secret laboratory known as Area 51. With responsibility for supporting everything from intergalactic technology transfer to alien autopsies, the IT team at Area 51 has one of the most demanding end user populations you can imagine. Fortunately, they can rely on Sam and the Kumquat team for the answers. One of the biggest challenges at Area 51 is ergonomics. "We worked closely with engineering to provide specially designed user interfaces for folks who have difficulty with mouse and keyboards - you know, folks with tentacles, spindly little feelers and especially the blob people." After that hurdle was overcome there were the training issues. "Unfortunately, the first few training consultants were devoured by their students. We had to make it clear to the users that these folks were here for lunch & learn seminars, not as lunch. We do try to be flexible on this issue around the time we're doing customer sat surveys, though" Reflecting the diversity of the user population at Area 51, Princess Zhardrev III is the facility's IT Director. She says that Kumquat's end user support has made her life easier. "I don't hang in my cocoon at night worrying about deployment schedules or support issues. I know Sam and his team have the bases covered and they will to go to bat for us to bring in the extra resources they need." Sam says that it's this kind of dedication that has really made the Kumquat team trusted partners and not just another hardware vendor.
